BELBROUGHTON    AMATEUR    DRAMATIC    SOCIETY

At the B.A.T.S. AGM  held in March, a decision was regretfully made to call a halt to any further productions.

A valiant few ‘thespians’ have unsuccessfully tried to organise performances of plays and another ‘Bits n’ Bobs’….our very own variety show with original sketches, and of course once seen, who can ever forget Belbroughton’s very own singing phenomena the ‘ Chorus’!,

But to no avail, as our main problem has been the unavailability of people who can spare the time to direct, learn lines, and rehearse.  We tried to put on an original, home written farce last Christmas, but unfortunately could not find enough men to take the main lead characters.

B.A.T.S have had an amazing time as a Society in the village for over 20 years, entertaining locals in the school and Church Hall with Pantomimes, variety shows, and musicals.  Who remembers ‘Oliver’, and the wonderful ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat‘  performances in the Church…and the school ?

B.A.T.S have raised a substantial amount of money for local groups, and involved village adults and children in many well directed productions.

We all really would like to think that in the not too distant future we will once again tread the Church Hall boards, and will remain for the moment as a social group, and keep in touch by meeting once a month. If anyone reading this feels the urge to help us out and get us going again as a theatrical society, do not hesitate in contacting me Lesley Senter on 01562 730977
